Public Works removes the first black dot marked on the road network in Spain (16/03/2009)

The performance reflects the commitment of the Ministry of signal and eliminate the road sections identified as black spots

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, today visited the works to which the Autonomous Community, through the Highways Agency has removed the first black dot marked on the road network in Spain located at the intersection of Abanilla of MR-414, making the region the first Spanish autonomy in carrying out this initiative.

The performance reflects the commitment of the Ministry of signal and eliminate the road sections identified as black spots, a pioneering initiative in our country that aims to improve road safety and reduce accidents on the Highway Network Autonomous Region.

José Ballesta, said that "following the implementation by the regional executive of this initiative, which is part of the social campaign 'Put Brakes' Antena 3 Group, agencies such as the Traffic Department and various autonomous communities have committed to driving this type of action. "

The works have been carried out in the RM-414, in the municipality of Abanilla, and have completed 150 days after the signs of black spot.

The performance consisted of the construction of a roundabout will decrease significantly the risk of accidents in an area with high traffic intensity.

The counselor said that currently, "are running the works necessary for the elimination of five black spots and will hire four works over the coming weeks", which is part of the regional government commitment in signaling and subsequent elimination of black spots on the roads of regional ownership.
