The Governing Council has declared the Church of San José de Abanilla as a Cultural (BIC) with the rank of monument, a statement which also applies to chattels.
The parish church of San José, built by the Order of Calatrava in the early eighteenth century, is located in the center of town, between Place de la Purisima and streets Heart of Jesus and Pope Pius XII.
The building is a construction of a basilica with Baroque style, with aisles interfaced with barrel vaults.
The cruise is covered by a dome without drum and scallops and the exterior is decorated with glazed tiles.
Other monuments declared BIC category Abanilla monument are Abanilla Castle and the Castle of Santa Ana, and also the Quibo paleontological site was rated in the category of archaeological site.
