The Mayor of Abanilla, Ezequiel Alonso, and the Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Adela Martinez-Cache today inaugurated the Mill River Hydraulic Chícamo.
The Mayor of Abanilla has welcomed this new infrastructure: "An interpretive center and training Chícamo Mill River in the Murcia abanilleros and recover part of our history and our memory and we won a tourist and educational resource for the present and the future of our town. "
Also, Ezequiel Alonso thanked the efforts of all members of the board of the Community of Irrigators of the Huerta de Abajo and Sahües and all its community members, without their momentum and consistency would not be possible to recover the mill Chícamo and the miller's house.
This recovery represents an investment of 194,545 euros from European funds.
As pointed out by the 1st Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Tourism, José Antonio Rocamora, "The Chícamo river was and is vital for the people of Abanilla, watering your garden and as a resort, one of our main tourist attractions. The implementation of the Interpretation Center and Training Center and Shelter is a further step in sustainable tourism development in Abanilla ".
