The work, which has an investment of over 2.7 million, include construction of a new variant and three roundabouts
The new bridge over the river Chícamo built by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning in Abanilla has successfully passed the load tests conducted this week to ensure the safety of the new infrastructure.
These experiments consisted of subjecting the bridge to the weight of eight trucks of 38 tons each, arranged in different parts of the structure, in both fixed and moving, to check the strength of this overpass.
The Director of Roads, Jose Guijarro, explained that "through this set of operations is possible to check the safety of the bridge before going into service, to be held in December."
The regional manager added that "these kinds of procedures are used to demonstrate that the project implementation and execution of the works have been carried out satisfactorily."
The bridge will have two lanes of 3.5 meters each and two sidewalks of two meters wide, allowing the passage of vehicles in both directions simultaneously.
This will resolve the effect 'bottleneck' and provides a comfortable and safe transit for pedestrians.
Besides implementing the bridge, the regional government is carrying out in the town of Abanilla the construction of a new variant on the road to the RM-412, which connects the hamlet Abanilla Mahoya, with the aim of increasing safety road traffic and pedestrians.
The work, which has a total investment of 2,734,000 euros, also includes the construction of three roundabouts for better traffic management.
At the crossing of the road with Mahoya population is also planned renovation of the drainage system for the safe disposal of rainwater.
