Once finalized, the participants will obtain a certificate of professionalism that will allow them to improve their options of finding a job as auxiliary nurseries and gardens
Ten unemployed youth from Abanilla, beneficiaries of the Youth Guarantee, are being trained to work in the gardening sector with a one-year community program that alternates training and paid employment.
The initiative has a grant of 109,800 euros from the Ministry of Employment, Universities and Enterprise, through the SEF, and the co-financing of the European Social Fund.
The program consists of 1,920 hours of training, of which 813 correspond to theoretical classes and 1,107 to effective work, which constitute the eminently practical part of this training action.
To do this, these young people who do not study or work have been hired by the City of Abanilla to perform maintenance work on gardens and parks in the town, as well as the districts of Mahoya, Macisvenda, Cañada de la Leña and Barinas.
The general director of the SEF, Alejandro Zamora, who visited these student-workers today with the mayor of Abanilla, Ezequiel Alonso, said that "the mixed employment and training programs are proving to be a very useful way to improve the qualification of young people since it allows them to learn a trade, while they make contact with the working world, often the first, developing an effective work ".
Once all the modules that make up the program have been passed, the participants will obtain a certificate of professionalism, valid throughout the national territory, which will allow them to accredit the competences and skills acquired during this training period.
With this diploma in the specialty of auxiliary activities in nurseries, gardens and garden centers, students will have the opportunity to work as farm laborers, garden workers and nursery laborers, or opt for self-employment by creating their own company. gardening.
Dynamization of employment in Abanilla
Prior to the visit of the students of this program, Alejandro Zamora held a meeting with the mayor of Abanilla, Ezequiel Alonso, in which they analyzed the different employment programs that are being developed jointly, as well as other possible ways of collaboration that contribute to energize the labor market of the municipality.
With this objective in mind, the SEF and the City Council of Abanilla are collaborating in other projects, such as, for example, the local public employment program of Youth Guarantee, which, with a subsidy of 20,000 euros, will allow the hiring of three young unemployed for the maintenance of municipal infrastructures.
