The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cacho, said in Abanilla that "emergency work being carried out by the Ministry in the weir Proambiente, with a total amount of 2,932,220 euros, end the next December ".
The lines of work of this last phase of the restoration project of the landfill have focused on stabilizing and sealing the waste mass in the different affected locations in the 1-2 and 3 glasses;
and implement the necessary infrastructure for the collection, extraction, storage and controlled management of leachate and the biogas produced in the waste mass.
To stabilize the slopes of Glass 1-2 setting the right earrings, and prevent the formation of depressions that allow infiltration of waste water and the formation of leachate, it has made a move waste of about 60,000 cubic meters.
This last phase will involve the incorporation into the sealing layers landfill 240,000 cubic meters (between land and clay), 36,000 square meters of sheet polyethylene and 69,000 square meters of geotextile, which will prevent the entry of rainwater and consequent leachate formation, preventing, in turn, diffuse biogas output, and reducing odors.
This seal will allow the implementation of an efficient system of extraction wells biogas and proper management, and the establishment of a vegetative cover in the affected surfaces that prevent erosion and ultimate stabilization of the sealing layers in order to minimize the risks of the landfill.
In these months of work they have been extracted and managed by authorized waste treatment a total of 13,800 tons of leached plants.

The minister recalled that the activity is suspended since 2011, and in 2013, the company began implementing restoration work, sealing and adaptation of the site to the Directive and the Royal Decree of landfills, according to the collected project in a resolution of the Directorate General for the Environment.
