The Civil Guard in the region of Murcia, under the 'Plan against theft on farms and livestock farms', has conducted research that has resulted in the arrest of nine people allegedly involved in the theft of two tons of lemons in five farms Abanilla and Archena.
It has also regained much of the citrus misappropriated during the investigation.
Agents ROCA Team (burglar in the field) of the Meritorious, to detect an increase in thefts on farms in the municipalities of Abanilla and Archena dedicated to the cultivation of lemons, began the investigation in order to clarify the crimes with identification of the authors and, where appropriate, the recovery of stolen citrus.
The first investigations carried out allowed the civil guards to identify a criminal group, composed of five people, residents of Murcia Cabezo de Torres and El Palmar and Cieza, who allegedly were behind the authorship of several of the robberies investigated.
Criminal group with hierarchical structure
Research has allowed to find out that two members of the group, with an extensive criminal record for similar facts, exercising the functions of leaders and were responsible for searching the farms of lemons to assault.
Once designated the farm, the two leaders moved to it, at night, the remaining three members, including a minor, and left the place with their vehicles, while the latter materialized theft.
After the illegal collection of lemons and packed in plastic bags, they would contact with the leaders of the group to return to the place to pick up and carry the loot, whose final destination was the sale in weekly markets in different locations in the region.
After the device deployed search, the Civil Guard has located and arrested the five members of the criminal group suspected of the crime of burglary.
Other arrests occurred after the robbery on a farm in Abanilla, when the now arrested was caught at dawn by an employee holding when he had collected lots of lemons and were ready for their impending move with your vehicle.
Thanks to the information provided by the employee of the farm, the researchers were able to identify the suspect, who has been located and arrested shortly afterwards at his home in the village of Murcia La Ñora.
