| Vázquez: "The Government of the Region of Murcia has allocated almost five and a half million euros in emergency actions in the landfill and affected areas of the Sierra de Abanilla "| The senator of the PP, Juan María Vázquez, will defend tomorrow, Thursday, October 15, a motion that will be debated in the Senate Ecological Transition Commission for the Government of Spain to promote and finance the program for the definitive restoration with 6,300,000 euros and leachate management at the Abanilla landfill. The senator recalled that the "delay in the execution of the project to be carried out by Proambiente for the environmental restoration of the landfill entailed a series of environmental risks such as the collapse of the crown and slope instability, as well as the generation of leachates that affect to boulevards and ravines near the landfill ".
Faced with this situation, the regional government has undertaken, for a value of almost five million euros, emergency actions to control environmental risks in the affected areas of the Sierra de Abanilla. Currently, as Vázquez has clarified, the Autonomous Community is carrying out the work of emptying the leachate basin for an amount of 400,000 euros.
Once completed, as the senator has underlined, the work will be undertaken to finalize the sealing of Vessel 0, with a budget of around one million euros and with this "the actions of the sealing and closure of the domestic waste landfill and other non-hazardous industrial waste ". Vázquez stressed that "the necessary steps are being taken to finance and carry out the pending work to certify the adaptation to the landfill directive and the final closure of the landfill", but "a complete restitution of the situation is necessary to reduce the inconvenience to the populations of the nearby municipalities of the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community ", for which" we have requested the commitment of the Government of Spain ". For this reason, the senator hopes that all political groups will support this motion "because it is important to continue with the complete restitution of the situation," to which he has pointed out that "it is a supra-autonomous project in which it is sometimes difficult to identify the real separation between autonomous communities, that is why we ask the Government of Spain for a commitment ".
