The community of irrigators 'El Porvenir' of Abanilla presented today to the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel del Amor, his project of modernization works of irrigation, which pose to the new aid model of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing, Food and Environment for the period 2018-2025.
Del Amor undertook to study the proposal, which includes automation, the construction of two or three reservoirs to increase capacity up to one cubic hectometer and the connection of the pipes that go from the Wastewater Treatment Plant (Edar) to the Rabbit reservoir.
The Minister stressed that "this National Irrigation Plan was born with the idea of ​​continuing and developing new lines of action, since the new strategy sees irrigation as a key instrument to promote sustainable rural development and achieve productive, efficient, sustainable agriculture and profitable. "
Also, in the opinion of the counselor, "will be one of the pillars on which the next National Water Pact in which the Government of Spain works is based".
The councilor recalled that 85 percent of the cultivated area is modernized, about 130,000 hectares have localized irrigation systems.
All this, he said, along with desalination, "which is a complementary resource because we can not irrigate only with desalinated water."
Participatory budget lines
This Saturday the last three lines of irrigation modernization derived from participatory budgets financed with Community funds and destined to avoid water losses in the distribution network, introduce photovoltaic energies in the modernization systems and provide greater regulatory capacity to the irrigation communities.
