The Community funds this year with over 4.6 million seats of the 51 Juvenile Court Center La Zarza (10/06/2010)

The Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration through the Directorate General of Family and Children, funded this year with 4,663,587 euros hired the 51 seats of the Juvenile Court Center La Zarza (Abanilla), managed by the Fundación Diagrama and now head of the department visited the regional, Joaquín Bascuñana, accompanied by Director General of Family and Children, Laura Muñoz, the head of the Juvenile Court No. 1 of Murcia, Rafael Romero, and Mayor Abanilla, Fernando Molina.

The center opened in January 1993 and currently has 61 beds, operates as a semi-open and closed and is responsible for implementing the legal measures of confinement imposed by the Juvenile Court of Murcia, explained the director.

It counts with 57 professionals, including 30 teachers, two psychologists and two social workers who care for 57 children, six seats more than contracted, because lately there have been several admissions.

Bascuñana also referred to acting with the young inmates, aged between 14 and 22 years old, based on ensuring their professional training, psychosocial competence and job placement.

In addition, they provide medical, hospital and social services along with food, hygiene and personal safety.

Performances are also personalized with each child.

Similarly, the Minister stressed the recent expansion of the facilities, the construction of three more modules with a capacity for 12 people and improving services such as cooking and laundry.

"Because this has been achieved for all young people linked to the region can serve their sentences in facilities here, instead of resorting to others outside, as has happened until recently. In this way, it comes to providing minors the right conditions to return to society in the best position possible. The cost to public funds is high, but certainly not worth the effort, "said Bascuñana.

He also referred to in this center is carrying out an initiative called 'House of Crafts', with the collaboration of the General Directorates of Family and Children and the Regional Employment Service and Training (SEF).

This is a joint project of employment and training aimed at young unemployed who are serving legal action.

This initiative is developed throughout this year and facilitates the social integration of these young people at risk of exclusion and, mostly, unable to leave the center.

Specifically, it has established a gardening workshop to teach the knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to obtain professional qualifications.

Currently the Community funding 139 places of detention for children in four centers of reform in the region: La Zarza (61 seats), The Mulberry (46), Barbary sheep Alea (20) and Los Pinos (12).

116 beds in the Residence Altavida

The counselor also traveled today in Abanilla Altavida the Residence, in which the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) has contracted 116 beds, of which 74 are for dependent elderly, 36 for six mentally ill and physically disabled .

He was accompanied by the managing director of IMAS, Isabel Sola, and the local mayor, Fernando Molina.
