Abanilla receives more than 117,000 euros from the Works and Services Plan last year to improve public infrastructures (16/04/2018)

The Minister of Finance recalls that the municipalities have until next April 30 to submit new proposals for the biennium 2018/2019

Abanilla has received more than 117,000 euros from the Works and Services Plan (POS) corresponding to 2017 to improve public infrastructures, as pointed out today by the Minister of Finance and Public Administration, Andrés Carrillo, who visited several of the projects in the town.

Carrillo stressed that "the regional government, through the Works and Services Plan, collaborates with municipalities of less than 50,000 inhabitants to reduce the deficit in infrastructure and basic equipment and defrays the execution of works that, without this support, would be very difficult perform".

In Abanilla, through the POS of 2017, four projects are being executed, one related to improvements in parks and gardens both in Abanilla and in the hamlet of Barinas;

the remodeling of the Mahoya Cultural Center;

the renovation of public lighting in the districts of Paraje Alto de Los Pavos and Macisvenda;

and the replacement of street lighting in the Paraje de Las Cuestas and Maique.

In total, the investment amounts to 131,000 euros, of which the Community pays 117,395 and the City Council 13,594.

In addition, Carrillo also visited works corresponding to the Plan of Works and Services of 2016, which reached almost 110,000 euros, of which 95,801 euros were financed by the Community and the rest of the Consistory, and with which projects to improve access to equipment were addressed. public, pavements in Mahoya and sidewalks in Barinas and Macisvenda.

New POS

The novelty this year, added the counselor, is that "the plan has a biennial character so that the town councils can execute works of greater scope and importance".

In this way, for the 2018/2019 biennium, the Community will allocate a total of 234,790 euros for the POS of Abanilla, at a rate of 117,395 euros per annuity.

This new Works and Services Plan will reach the 41 municipalities of the Region of less than 50,000 inhabitants and includes 12 million euros for the two years, which are borne by the Community, "which benefits an estimated population of more than 550,000 people".

Carrillo recalled that "the municipalities have until April 30 deadline to submit their projects, which may include actions such as improvement in streets and sidewalks, renovation of public lighting, works in parks, replacement of services and works in municipal facilities, among others ".

The counselor estimated that "this year, given that the municipalities have the amount of two annuities, 2018 and 2019, the number of projects we will receive and their importance will be considerably greater."

He also pointed out that the town councils will have to elaborate the projects of works that they can execute with the assigned amount and they will have to submit them to the consideration of the neighbors, "so that the POS is another way to encourage the participation of the neighbors in the decisions" .

The 2017 plan reached 65 actions in the 41 municipalities of less than 50,000 inhabitants of the Region, with a budget of 7.8 million euros, of which 6 are contributed by the Community and the rest by the municipalities.
