Work begins on repairing the road linking Abanilla with Alicante province The work consists of arranging a sinking in the causeway caused by the heavy rains of December, the replacement of the slope and the reinforcement of the margins With concrete (11/05/2017)

The Ministry of Presidency and Development has begun work on the repair of the firm of the road RM-A9, which links the town of Abanilla with the route of the regional network RM-410 (BarinasMacisvendaAspe), after the damages caused by heavy rains of December.

José Antonio Fernández Lladó, general director of roads, made an inspection visit to the works, accompanied by the mayor of Abanilla, Ezequiel Alonso, and emphasized that the works are centered on the kilometer point 9.2 of the road, where Produced the slip of the retaining wall of the slope that sustains the road, which caused the collapse of the road.

The work consists in the excavation and sanitation of the deteriorated material and later filled with granular material until reaching the complete replacement of the slope.

During the execution of the works, a temporary diversion will be made by the margin contrary to that of the sinking in order to avoid cutting the passage of the vehicles.

In order to be able to execute the work properly, the protective safety barrier and the simple twisting mesh must be removed at this side of the road, which will be replaced once the work is completed.

The margins of the road will be protected with concrete to prevent further scouring and deterioration of the slope, eliminating runoff water.

The action has a budget of more than 32,800 euros and works will end at the end of the month.
