Presented in Abanilla the poster of the festivities in honor of the Most Holy Cross and of Moors and Christians to the beat of the music. (08/04/2019)

On Saturday, April 6, the municipality of Murcia began its patron saint festivities with the VIII Festival de Bands de Música "Villa de Abanilla";

organized by the Hon.

City Council, the Federation of Associations of Moors and Christians, the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross and the Musical Union "Santa Cruz".

In this edition, the Association Municipal Band of Music of Molina de Segura has participated along with the host, the Band of the Musical Union "Santa Cruz", which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary and that, with the collaboration of the Hon.

Abanilla City Council, since 1994 has formed more than 200 musicians.

Several Christian marches, blackberries and festive pasodobles were performed in the Municipal Auditorium.

The music was also dedicated to the Patroness, the Holy Cross and to two essential and historical figures of the festivities;

the Captains and Pages.

In addition, the attendees enjoyed two essential and emotive compositions in Abanilla;

"El Ataque", a piece that plays the music band while the Captains perform the rite of flag-making and the "Hymn to the Holy Cross", musical standard of our Patron, which was interpreted by the more than 100 components that make up the Band, the Voces Blancas Choir, formed by the students, and the Choir of the Music School "Pascual Lozano", composed of partners and parents of the students, under the direction of Francisco José Blanco Corbalán.

As on other occasions, images were projected to the beat of the music.

During the ceremony, the poster announcing the 2019 parties was presented by David Gil Cano, or as it is known artistically, David Gil Art, co-founder of the Association of Painters and other Arts of Murcia, which has exhibited his art throughout These years in various locations in Murcia and Alicante, as well as having participated in several group exhibitions with other artists from the Region.

David is a well-known person in Abanilla, for his professional dedication as a civil guard in the municipality for more than 20 years.

The poster stands out for its color, reflecting the season of the year in which the festivities are celebrated and was presented by its main representatives: the mayor of Abanilla, Ezequiel Alonso, the councilman of Celebrations, José Antonio Rocamora, the president of the Federation of Moros y Cristianos, Luis María Rocamora, the president of the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross, Luis Mariano Mellado and the author of the 2019 party poster, David Gil Cano, who was given the badge that credits him as such.

The Festival of Music Bands "Villa de Abanilla" is the preamble of some festivities that will continue from April 26 to May 12, highlighting on May 1 in which will take place the great Parade-stop of Moors and Christians and day 3 , with the pilgrimage accompanying the Patroness, the Holy Cross, to her hermitage in the hamlet of Mahoya, all as tradition, with music, "characteristic of the identity of Abanilla
